A Room for My Boys

We finished the boys' room! They had been living with a hodge-podge of furnishings for long enough. I don't really think my oldest minded the old version, but he did enjoy the upgrade to a bunk bed.
After living with the cheapest bookcases Wal-Mart sells for so long, this upgrade from Target looks quite nice. My boy is an avid reader. If the option of video games is off the table, he heads straight for a book.

My baby will be one next month...He has transitioned well to his crib in Bubba's room.

We added the coat hooks to the bunkbed. And notice the trim around the window? It's just paint! Shhhh! =) And check out the (we'll call it) vintage organ from Nana and Papaw! R is teaching himself to play some simple songs...We shall see where that goes.

See the little nightstand there? It was plain wood with a simple clear coat. We found it at a local antique store, brought it home, and just spray painted it.

Having our own home has been a wonderful experience so far. I enjoy working on beautification projects. :) I've been working a lot in the yard of late...I hope to get some pics up soon of my garden and updated flower beds. Until next time...
God Bless,
Dessa :)

  1. I love the red stripes you incorporated in this room - perfect for a boys room! Like you, I have been spending a lot of time in the yard too - it's been neglected for far too long!

    1. Thanks so much =) I had planned on doing gray and red stripes...but at the request of my husband I kept it cream and red. Closer to looking like the American flag, he said. And since my son wants to be President, it fits =)
