G.L.R.O.W.*

*Granny's Little Rolodex of Wisdom

Here are some of my favorites from the last half of May...

May 15th

The Church is like a bank --
The more you put into it,
The more interest you have in it.

May 16th

Use your eyes as if tomorrow
you would be struck blind;
Hear the music of voices,
the song of a bird,
as if you would be struck deaf.
Touch each object as if tomorrow
your sense of touch would fail --
Smell perfume of flowers,
taste with relish each morsel,
as if tomorrow you could
never smell or taste again.
Helen Keller

May 20th

It is impossible for anything so natural,
so necessary, and so universal as death
Should ever have been designed as an
evil to mankind.

Teach me to live that I may dread the grave
as little as my bed.

May 21st

How graciously - and how often -
the Lord invites us to come to
Him for help.

May 24th

It is only imperfection that is intolerant
of what is imperfect.

The more perfect we are, the more gentle
and quiet we become

Toward the defects of others.

May 26th

I have wept in the night for the shortness
of sight
That to somebody's need made me blind;
But I have never yet felt a twinge of
regret
For being a little too kind.

May 27th

Thank God every morning when you get up
That you have something to do that day
which must be done,
whether you like it or not.
Being forced to work and do your best
will breed in you a hundred virtues
which the idle never know.

~One of my most favorites~
May 30th

We must often pass by the
favor of men and the
smiles of the world
In order that we may have the
favor of God and the
happiness of a good conscience.
